This week 2 years ago (2008), I ran for an hour non stop. I was hoping to repeat the feat this year at the same time (like an anniversary of sorts). The exact date was 8th Dec. 2008, when I broke the barrier for the first time. I went running on 8th Dec. this year too, but was rudely stopped by the gym instructor at 15 mins. He said I shouldn't run for more than 15 mins and made me do all kinds of funny exercises! It was crazy. Anyways I aint goin back there anymore. I decided to brave the cold and ventured out today in the evening for the run. My target was 5 miles...a distance I hadn't run since quite some time now. I started well...with a measured pace and was able to complete the distance in an hour (+1 minute). I finished strong..in fact seeing that I had crossed 1 hour, I sprinted the last 200 meters or so. An awesome run after a long time. The endorphins are kicking in.
Well the 1 hour mark is special for me..it gives me confidence. The distances wont be scary anymore. The next step is to gradually build up speed. I am targetting 6 miles in the same time (1hr). \m/
