Sad news...we were knocked out in the semis this time around. It was disappointing. It was a bad day for us. We bowled badly and fielded even worse. There were too many dropped chances and it played a huge role in the loss. The tournament went as follows:
Match 1: BoB vs. Shin Kamikaze
We were up against the Japanese Communication and Co-ordination team in our first match. There wasnt any pressure on us since the team wasn't that good. We had a decent outing with the ball. Myself, Subhash and Amaresh restricted them to a modest 68 Runs in 10 overs. Our batsmen were ruthless and chased down that target in just 4.2 overs! It was awesome. Being the winners of the tournament 2 times in a row, everyone was expecting us to go all out and we did just that.
Match 2: BoB vs. Support Strikers
We beat them at the finals last year and they were looking to get the scores even. However, Partha and Shubhojeet dint allow them. Shubhojeet was awesome in building a nice platform for our middle-order batsmen to cut loose. And cut loose they did! Partha thrashed 4 consecutive sixes over the longest boundary of the ground. We finished at a decent 136 on the score from our 10 overs. Bowling was awesome that day. I took 4 wickets which included a hattrick and restricted the Support Strikers to a paltry 76. I was also the Man of the Match in that game. As always, we were at the top of our group after the league matches stage. It seemed we were cruising towards the finals.
Match 3: BoB vs. Inferno
The day began with us reaching the ground pretty early..all pumped up for the semis. The match began a bit late than usual but the weather was kinda pleasant..up until then that is. Subhash started his first over and was faced with a lot of aggressive batting from the openers of Inferno. Neither me, Subhash or Amaresh were able to stop the onslaught. We were pretty used to batsmen defending and barely managing to overpower all 3 of us. But that day, neither one of us was spared. Luck was by their side too with a lot of missed catches and mis-fields. We had our worst day in terms of bowling and fielding. They ended up scoring a decent target of 137 from 12 overs. Their tight bowling put immense pressure on our batsmen and with 37 to get from the last over, our fate was sealed. But there were no regrets..we played badly and paid for it.
Although the dream of winning the tournament 3 times in a row was shattered yesterday but the will is still there. Come NPL 5.0..we will bounce back! Block or Bleed indeed.
